Moving Around on a Data Entry Page
Use the mouse to locate and move the cursor in a specific form. The Tab key can also be used to move between buttons and forms on a page.
Filling in Forms

Most of the data entry is completed by filling in text boxes. Use the mouse to locate the cursor in a specific box. The tab key can also be used to move between buttons and boxes on a page. Note that the * asterisk indicates a "required" field that must be completed for that section of the Annual Report. |
Spell Check
Google Toolbar - takes you to a page where you can download a Google toolbar that includes a spell checker iespell - takes you to a page where you can download a free spell checker for the Internet Explorer browser |
If you install a web browser-based spell checker you will be able check the spelling of your text in eFARS forms. There are numerous spell checkers to choose from, including the two listed at the left. |
Pull Down Menus

Several places in the data entry sections use "Pull Down Menus". Click on the down arrow to display the list of items. |
Reordering Lists

Many of the sections in the report create lists of entries. The "up" and "down" arrow buttons can be used to reorder a list. |
Save Buttons

All data entry screens have two rows of buttons on each page like the one shown to the left. One row is at the top of the form and another is at the bottom of the form. You must click on one of these buttons for your data to be saved. Important Note! eFARS will automatically log you out after 4 hours have elapsed without receiving a "Save" or "Save and Return", so save often! |

If you click on the "Save Changes" button, you will remain on the page andyour data will be saved. |
| Click on "Save Changes and Return" when you have completed data entry for a page and you wish to move up the the outline one level. | |
| Using the "Return without Saving" button moves you up one level in the outline without saving any data entry. |
