My Collaborators
Use "My Collaborators" to create your personal list of the people with whom you frequently work. This list allows you to find and add collaborators to items in certain sections of your report, such as directed academic work, citations, grant awards, publications, patents, impact statements, and various types of presentations. We recommend that you enter all of your collaborators at once, before you get started on your Annual Faculty Report.

The "Add New Other" button permits you to add people who are not Virginia Tech employees to your list or collaborators. Please do not use this for VT employees. |

If you wish to add a VT employee you will be asked to locate the person from the Virginia Tech directory by entering their name or PID and clicking the "Search" button. You will be provided a list of faculty with that name to choose from. Select the correct person from the list by clicking on the name. |

Use the "Save & Add to List" button to include them on your "My Collaborators" list. Continue this process until you have added all your Virginia Tech collaborators. |
Your Default Name
Your name will be shown as it occurs in the Virginia Tech directory. You may wish to have your name shown differently in the various sections of your faculty report. If you enter your name multiple times to the collaborators list, you can then specify which entry should be the "default" or most often used. In the following example, McAnge, Jr. has been identified as the default.
Editing The Names of Your Collaborators
You can edit the "Last Name" and "First Name" entries by typing over the existing entry. Entries on the list can be deleted by clicking on the "Delete" button from the "My Collaborators" page.
email Notification
Whenever you list or delete a VT employee as a collaborator with you on any work, an email will be generated to that person to notify them of that action. This will allow the collaborator to review the action and possibly discuss it with you.
Editing Collaborative Work
The first person to enter a collaborative work controls the editing of the citation. Collaborators will need to discuss and coordinate edits on shared work. eFARS cannot moderate disputes between collaborators- you must do that.
Acceptance of Collaborative Work
If you have been listed as a collaborator, you have the option to accept or reject that listing. Rejecting the collaborative listing and entering a different version of your own will result in the work being counted twice by the system. Remember that our goal is to have one collaborated work entered into eFARS, not several different ones.
