eFARS Update!
August 2006
Announcements
This is an update to help you stay informed on the status of eFARS. Here are some of the things we have been working on:
- Keeping eFARS open all year: Yes, we plan on doing this after we reopen eFARS in September.
- Alerts when someone adds you as a collaborator: eFARS will send you an email when someone adds you as a collaborator.
- Add a spelling checker: We found a way to do this. The Google toolbar has a spelling checker in it and will spell check a web document. We will put directions on how to download and use this free application in the “Instructions” tab on the eFARS website.
- Add a category for guest lectures: We are adding this into the teaching section.
- Add definitions of terms: We will add ‘rollovers’ which display a definition if you roll the mouse over the item.
- Increase character limits on items: We are increasing the character limits on many text boxes.
- Change the format to include a section specific to Extension programming: Yes, we are editing a section of the report outline so that you can enter all of your extension information into just one section.
- A way to show that a course also has a lab: We will add a lab section component to the course page in eFARS.
We received hundreds of suggestions and we thank you for submitting them. Not every suggestion will be implemented, but every one was considered.
New Feature! You will able to add old data in the revised eFARS. Allowing you to enter old data means that you can add items from previous years. So, you can create a curriculum vita for yourself or a two-page resume.
